I am an Ottawa based photographer concentrating in the areas of underwater and contemplative photography. The images I make are not focused on specific subjects or a specific genre, but are meant to provide a different perception of the world. What started out as ‘taking pictures’ and ‘capturing images’ has now transformed into ‘making images.’

Photography is literally “drawing with light” and comes from two ancient Greek words: photo, for “light,” and graph, for “drawing.”

Through this website we hope to present some of our best images. I am an Ottawa based photographer concentrating in the areas of underwater and contemplative photography. I have been privileged to experience the underwater wonders of many places including Florida, Bonaire, Hawaii, Indonesia and the Maldives.

I came to the art of photography later in life. The impact of the underwater world on my photography was immense. I stopped taking pictures and started making images. That lead to more focused training in print making with master print maker Jim Lamont and specialized training with renowned underwater photographer Stephen Frink.

I can best describe my approach as contemplative. This is a method for seeing and photographing the world in fresh ways to reveal beauty that is normally hidden from view. There truly is no better place to practice this than underwater where we are foreigners. We must learn to move slowly to take in the surroundings. We must learn to see with a different perspective because we are strangers in a strange world.

I have now taken the contemplative photography approach to my work out of the water too. The images I make are not focused on specific subjects or a specific genre, but are meant to provide a different perception of the world.

What started out as ‘taking pictures’ and ‘capturing images’ has now transformed into ‘making images.’
